Easy ways to help raise money that don't cost a penny
Gift Aid
Remember to ask people to Gift Aid their donation. As long as you or your sponsors are UK tax payers, WDCS can reclaim 25p for every £1 that you donate, at no extra cost to you. All you have to do is to ask your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid box on the sponsorship form and give their full name and address details.
Justgiving
If you decide to do a sponsored event you can raise your sponsorship money really easily without having to worry about collecting cash and cheque donations from your family and friends.
All you need to do is create your own online sponsorship page, email the details to all your contacts and get them to donate quickly and easily with their credit or debit card. There’s an added bonus too as all online donations from UK taxpayers collect a 25% tax bonus, good news for the whales and dolphins!
To create your page just click here www.justgiving.com/charity/wdcs then click on the ‘Raise Money’ section and click again on ‘View Events’; select the type of event you would like to do and follow the instructions to personalise your page. By creating your online sponsorship page you can:
- Email the page to all your friends
- Watch your total grow on screen
- Include a photo and personal message
- Update your target amount as often as you like
- 25% gift aid tax bonus added to donations
- You don’t need to worry about hassling your friends and family for cash or cheques!
Ebay
This is a great opportunity for you to have a clear out and support WDCS at the same time! You can donate 10% - 100% of the price items you sell on eBay to WDCS.
How does it work? While listing an item on eBay you can choose to donate a percentage, or all, of your items final selling price to WDCS. Your item will feature a charity ribbon, our name and logo – plus the percentage you are donating so buyers know they are donating to a good cause.
- Visit http://www.ebay.co.uk/ebay-for-charity
- Register for your ebay and MissionFish seller accounts
- Choose an item to sell
- Write an item title and description
- List your item on eBay and indicate that it will benefit WDCS
- Complete your transaction – Missionfish will collect your donation, claim Gift Aid and pass on both to WDCS.
