You don't have to go overseas, there are lots of exciting challenges in the UK!
If you are looking to do something challenging and worthwhile that is closer to home then look no further. Participating in one of our UK challenges will give you the perfect opportunity to see some of the most stunning countryside in the British Isles and gain a lasting sense of achievement. Not only will you be testing yourself physically and mentally but you will also be helping to fund WDCS’s work.
You can choose from trekking, cycling or sailing throughout the British Isles, with different difficulty levels. Challenges cover 3 days over a long weekend, to two weeks in duration.
You can do the Three Peaks Challenge and take on the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales all within 24hours. The trek covers 40kms and involves 2,984m of ascent and descent.
You can cycle nearly 200 miles from London to Paris over 3 days, or cycle 1000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats in 12 days - the furthest possible distance in the British Isles!
You could also decide to take on the challenge of life at sea! You can sail across the channel from Poole to the Channel Islands in a classic 46ft racing yawl over 4 days as part of the crew. Or you can even take part in The Classic Channel Regatta 2009, an event that is only held every two years!
These trips are designed to provide you with a challenge, otherwise why would anyone want to sponsor you to do them! They require you to have a good level of fitness and stamina, along with an open mind to deal with new situations.
All of these challenges are achievable provided you are committed and prepared to train in advance!
