Canoe Challenge

Help us protect the dolphins of the Moray Firth by joining our thrilling three day sponsored canoeing adventure down Scotland’s majestic River Spey.  Your journey begins in Aviemore and finishes at the WDCS Scottish dolphin centre at the mouth of the River Spey. You’ll take in breath-taking scenery, ride grade 2 rapids and enjoy wild camping, and the money raised will support our campaign to protect Scotland’s dolphins -  are you fit for the challenge?

Itinerary:

Day 1

Starting our descent of the River Spey from Aviemore on Friday morning, Day 1 consists largely of a gentle bimble down by Boat of Garten and Grantown on Spey before setting up camp on an island in the river overnight.

Day 2

A pretty adventurous second day with a few grade 2 rapids, as we head down through whisky country past Knockando and Aberlour. Camp beside a pub in Craigellachie and maybe sample some of the Speyside malts from distilleries that we have paddled past during the day.

Day 3

We start off with more "interesting" rapids before the Spey reaches the coastal plain and calms down on its last leg down to the sea at Spey Bay.

When:

31st May - 2nd June 2013

Cost:

£275 per person plus sponsorship of £200

Who can take part:

Age 15+, able to swim 25m and some previous canoeing experience required.

There are only eight spaces available on each trip so sign up for the challenge now by filling in our application form.
