Rainbow

RainbowRainbow is an adult female, she was first seen by our researchers back in 1989 when she was just a youngster. Her name stems from her ‘bright and colourful’ character; she really seems to enjoy the company of the other adopted dolphins and is frequently seen with them.

Rainbow has a distinctive nick in the centre of her dorsal fin, which makes her easy to spot. She often feeds along the Black Isle coast in the summer; she’s also been spotted many times from popular land-based sites at Cromarty and Chanonry Point.

Rainbow has had three known calves, the first in 1995 when she was around 10 years old. The second, Prism was born in August 2001 and first seen small and wrinkled - at just a few days old! Raindrop, Rainbow’s third known calf was born in 2005.
