Nevis

NevisNevis is a male dolphin, and is one of the most regularly seen of the adoption project. He is named after "Ben Nevis", Scotland's highest mountain, because he has a distinctive, snowy white patch at the top of his dorsal fin. He is normally seen in areas around the Sutors near Cromarty, and seldom ventures into the Inner Firth. He is often seen with other dolphins playing, resting or hunting for fish.

Nevis normally appears to be quite sociable but on one occasion he was on his own and when we approached him in the boat he began tail slapping which may be a warning sign used by dolphins to tell other dolphins (and humans!) to keep away.
