Dog Blog! Back on the west coast
Posted on behalf of Kila - Canine Research Assistant No. 1!

I knew we were here before my humans did, I could smell those dastardly Wester Ross sheep many miles away – and this time there’s a whole lot of wee ones….lambs I believe they’re called….yummy (I’m sure they go nicely with rice and mint sauce)! Yet once again my plans have been foiled and I’m due to be behind fences or on the end of a lead the whole time but I have a month apparently, so….watch this space!
I’m looking forward to these next weeks, and hoping for some great sightings of not only whales and dolphins and those strange, slightly scary shark things but of the weird and wonderful members of the various Helicopteri species and the big dark boats (moving boxes on water?) that belong to the various navies – that’s why we’re here after all!
After our moving box was unpacked and everything put away, we ventured outside to check out our surroundings. Not even 3 sticks had been thrown before the humans were distracted and our first minke whale sighted – I should have remembered that those large sea-faring animals would take priority over my bits of wood ?
The weather isn’t being kind to us and so far all we’ve had is rain, rain and even more rain. Gale force winds are forecast for this evening and both humans are quite sad about the lack of positive meteorological news. The sea looks mostly white to me as opposed to the normal blue colour so surely it’s easier to see the dark coloured animals but what do I know? I’ve been assured it’s virtually impossible to spot marine creatures in these conditions so……more sticks for me? No such thing as bad “stick” weather!!
I’m off now to try and persuade the humans out into the “land of the sheep” but don’t hold out too much hope as apparently it’s a wee bit damp out there! I’ll be back with more updates soon and will introduce you to my humans then…..they’re both camera shy so I need to work on them!
