Why does the Japense Government tolerate this attempt to suppress debate?
Back when the IWC was held in Kyoto, I remember being heckled by a gang, -and that's the best description for them, - though they did look more like some sort of organized militia or private army as they were dressed in black and wore insignia.
I wrote about this in 2008, but am again reminded by the actions of these ultra-nationalists because once again they are seeking to suppress open debate about the whaling issue.
Whilst this black-shirted brutality is the realm of these people who wish to stamp out anything that causes the Japanese public to question the history and practices of Japan - just look at their attitudes to Japan and their rewriting of Japanese imperialism of the last century - one must question what is the view of the Japanese Government as to the practices of these militia?
Does the Japanese Government condone or condemn this suppression of information, or does it happily watch it at a distance?
