Kristjan Loftsson, Iceland's whaler, campaigns against EU entry for Iceland

Author - CEO

It seems that Kristjan Loftsson, chief executive of Hvalur, who has run a one man campaign to keep fin whaling alive (sorry no pun intended) in Iceland, has begun his campaign to keep Iceland out of the EU. It seems that he thinks that the EU would stop his 'pirate' whaling.

Quoted in EUBusiness, the chief executive of Hvalur has stated "I would not be surprised if whale hunting has to be stopped."

You can see an interview with Kristjan Loftsson in which he states that he intends to flout CITES the IWC and export whale meat to Japan. The film includes some rather gruesome images of the two fin whales being flensed there.
