Tilikum didn't kill Dawn Brancheau, the culture of Sea World killed Dawn Brancheau.

in an e-mail. (Times-Colonist) One additional fact that helps put into coxtent some of this orca-salmon interdependence: NOAA estimates that Southern Residents need up to 1.7 million Chinook annually to survive at their current population levels. (Central Valley Project Biological Opinion (2009)). When a good year sees only 300,000 chinook return to the Columbia, compared to historic populations of more than six million, one can see these giant marine mammals desperately need a new source of Chinook if they are to survive, much less recover. Thanks for a helpful piece.
